Project Y is a personal AI companion platform. You bring your own API key from a third-party LLM and/or image generation provider, and Project Y provides the interface, memory system, and tools to build and talk to your companions. Project Y itself does not generate text or images — your chosen provider does, using your own credentials.
Project Y is currently in early alpha. Features will change, break, and improve. By using it during this stage, you understand you're testing an active work in progress.
You're responsible for keeping your own API keys secure. Project Y stores them to make requests on your behalf to your chosen provider, but never uses them for anything other than the requests you initiate.
You're responsible for your own usage costs with your provider. Project Y does not bill you for AI usage — that happens directly between you and your provider.
You own the content you create using Project Y — your companions, your conversations, your generated images, your campaigns. Project Y claims no ownership over anything you build or generate through the platform.
You're responsible for ensuring your use of Project Y complies with your chosen LLM/image provider's own usage policies, since their terms govern what their models will and won't produce for you.
Project Y is built for personal use. Don't use it to harass, harm, or impersonate real people without consent, generate content involving minors in any sexual or romantic context, or violate the rights of others.
See the Privacy Policy for full details on what's stored and for how long. In short: your data is retained for as long as you're actively using the platform, and automatically removed one year after your last activity. You can export or delete your data at any time before that, no waiting required.
Project Y is provided as-is, especially during this alpha period. We make no guarantees about uptime, data permanence beyond our stated retention policy, or fitness for any particular purpose. Back up anything that matters to you by using the export feature.
These terms may be updated as the platform evolves. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms.
Questions about these terms can be directed through the Project Y Discord or support channels.
